About

Say the word “Christian” and what do you think of? Do you imagine kind, simple folk gathered on a Sunday morning in a little country church? A pastor or priest making hospital rounds? A godly mother teaching her children right from wrong? Or do you think of rabid culture-warriors and smarmy televangelists?

Christianity is without question a religion of ideas and doctrines, but it is also a religion of deeds and relationships. Sadly, Christians have let these two aspects of faith become disconnected, and we are paying the price for our neglect.

Connected Christianity is a place to explore what it might be like if Christians finally got the head, heart, and hands of their faith re-connected. We are here to celebrate trends in the contemporary church that give us hope that healing and reconciliation are indeed possible: those who are trying to mend fences and build bridges.

  • We believe that Christianity must be connected to the past: to the traditions that have shaped our life and worship from the beginning.
  • We believe that Christianity must be connected to the present: to other believers across the spectrum, and to the world outside the church’s doors. We want to explore how Christianity is connected to culture—for good or for ill.
  • We believe that Christianity must be connected to the future: to the vision of its Founder that we be one. By God’s grace, we embrace this as a real possibility and we pray it will happen soon.

Rest assured, all of the contributors at Connected Christianity have opinions on controversial issues, and we are not afraid to state them! We hope, however, to write in a spirit of humility and respect for those who disagree.
